From San Francisco's Historical Fillmore District, Russ doesn't recall at time in life where music and the arts weren't apart of growing up. The streets of Fillmore "Fillmoe" was teeming with music, fashion, dance, and community events that became the backdrop to the 2000's and 2010's. Experiencing moments that seem too familiar for a black male raised in the ghetto. Anger and confusion made nine-year old Russ start writing poetry and transitioned into rewriting his favorite songs. This became a habit and Russ would always have his composition book wherever he went. 

   In 2019, Russ met Merle and what was a collective of all their friends expressing themselves creatively, became the foundation for Merle the Hermit's ShakLab.LTD. Each month figuring their way around technical difficulties, mastering issues, writer's block, self doubt, and etc. The Shak has released three projects(2021,2022,2023) with Russ as the supporting front man for The Fabulous Unknwn. The following year Russ released his debut solo EP, Ambitionz & Adversaries with Merle the Hermit behind the production and now has also accepted a role as one of ShakLab's DJs under the name "R'cuterie."

In the present, Russ is working towards making music that transcends and inspires.  Considering he is the first person in his family to graduate college, Russ has ambitions to start a company intended to give opportunities to people who weren't able to receive a higher education and provide resources to aid others in profiting off their own interests and hobbies.

Usually when a new artist comes on the scene, they lean on theatrics and false bravado to paint a nonexistent pretense of who they are. Russ Jamerson takes a different, more authentic approach. Ambitionz and Adversaries presents a vignette of 25 years of the air, sights, and sounds ever present in San Francisco. Juggling the duality of purpose and preparation for the best tomorrows, Russ paints portraits of life lived, and life to come- all while being authentic and true to his Hip Hop roots. Though this seems like a short project, this is merely the prologue.
